The Soliano Palace, next to the Duomo, was very likely built over an older structure, which may or may not have been the old Duomo, and abandoned for a few decades until the builders of the Duomo were housed in it. It was never a stable building and was partially demolished and restored several times until the final restoration in the 19th century.
