Odeon

A small theatre (also called Odeon), next to the Large Theatre, might have been used for music performances or poetry readings.

It was built around 80 BC, modeled after a similar building already existing in Naples. Some of the inscriptions recovered there attest its excellent acoustic qualities due to a special ceiling, lying on the perimeter walls. The low and wide steps were seats reserved for the Decurions.
