Fontana dei Putti

Often overlooked by visitors, the Fontana dei Putti or Fountain with Angels is a beautiful marble fountain in the Piazza dei Miracoli.

Although it is charming in design, the fountain was purely functional when first erected in the 17th-century. Sculpted by Giovanni Antonio Cybei, it provided a source of water for local citizens before the days when every home had running.

It provides a perfect photo-opportunity, especially in the early morning sunlight or at dusk when the Piazza is reclaimed by locals and those visitors lucky enough to be spending a night or two in Pisa.
