House of Pansa

The capitals in Ionic style standing out in the porticoed garden help dating back the House of Pansa to 2nd Century BC.

It takes up the whole block: the majestic entrance leads to an atrium enclosed by several rooms. The sidewalk in front of the entrance is paved in colored stones and brick fragments.

An announcement surviving in a nearby alley is testament to the fact that in the last period of Pompeii the rich and powerful owner, a businessman from the Campania region, was renting out a part of the house.
